A place to rest your paws

My little buddy, Budda, loves to hang out where ever I'm stationed in the apartment and one of those places I'm most often in is our studio. I used to have an old bed in there for him (he has a special orthopedic bed in the living room where he sleeps most of the day) but it got gross with his sister peeing on it and it was all lumpy from multiple washings. Ever since then I've been throwing a towel down or a blanket for my baby B in our studio to rest his weary paws while I search for a new bed/mat. Every they sell that's not in a ridiculusly expensive boutique is butt ugly and entirely too large. Finally, last night I got my ass in gear and decided to make him a mat myself, I only have a million yards of fabric and poly fill laying about. I choose a nice soft cotton knit that would wash well and I wanted to make sure it was a dark color so no paw prints would show up immediately. I rummage through my recent free findings and found this cute elephant print. I measured, then cut with my rotary cutter on a cutting mat, folded it in half sewed on three opened sides leaving a 3 inch space for stuffing. Then I stuffed away flatting as I went along making sure it wouldn't be lumpy. Then I sewed with a zig zag stitch evenly spaced lines across the width to keep the poly fill in place making a quilting effect. Voila! I doggy mat!
