Finished the clay doll!

I finished my little paperclay doll, I actually
didn't expect it to come out as decent as it did, considering it's the
first time a sculpt anything since freshman year at SVA which was an eon ago. It was really fun and it was instantly gratifying, I highly recommend it. This little doll is inspired by my little Las Mininas girls.

Here Comes My Baby, her she comes now.....

Tada! I finally broke down and did it, I bought myself I new computer. The new Imac, with 4GB of RAM! YES!!!! Thanks to my sister and her discount, my 2001 dome Imac will be retired, not sure what to do with it considering you can only run one program at a time. Probably donate it, to who, who knows. Anyway I am happy and freaked out that I just spent that much money in one shot.

Look what I made!

well, what I've made so far. I was really inspired by Elsa Mora's blog and all her beautiful artwork. I especially loved her little toys so I decided to buy some paperclay, and give a go. So far not so bad, I'm trying to bring one of my Las Mininas girls to life, I have to paint her now and the other little piece is a weird bunny inspired by Beegu a sweet children's book by Alexis Deacon. Going to get some of the missing colors of acrylics I need today and I will get them all painted up, hopefully tonight.

Cinnamoroll is here!!!!!!! She's been named!

I have a couple things to post today, but first and foremost I received my first Dal-Cinnamoroll, on friday. I love her she's super cute, I still need to name her, here are some Japanese names that I like, anyone call out to you? I included their meaning. Help me pick a name for her.

Chiyo-"a thousand generations"
Kiku-"chrysanthemum"
Kumiko-"beautiful, long-lived child"
Sayuri- "little lily"
Tsukiko- "moon child"
Yumi-"bow (archery); helpful beauty"
Ume- "Plum Blossom"

Finally I've decided to go with Kumiko

Hedgey handbag!

This is my lastest craft project, originally intended for the Sring Bust Craftacular, but alas, I am too overwhelmed and too pooped when I get home after work to get enough merch completed. I made this bag out of 100% dyed wool (sugar brown, leafy green, and cloudy grey)black leather straps, cotton lining(red & white gingham), and hand-embroidered hedgehog! It will go up on etsy this week.

A visit to Mitsuwa!

We went to the Japanese marketplace in Edgwater, NJ and it was like being in Tokyo again, except for the disorderly americans. We took my parents and my dad really enjoyed it he's always wanted to go to Japan has never been. My mom couldn't read if she liked it or not but I got her to eat the TonKatsu, and I think she liked it. Here are some pics of the day.

Good Birthday Stuff

I got this good stuff from my s.o. for my birthday. A lovely bag made with cute turtle print and linen and a sweet embroidery, by Simbiosis. A really good book "Kicked, Bitten an Scratched" by Amy Sutherland, if you are into the wild creatures this is a great book. And last but certainly not least lots of gift certificates to Kinokuniya (japanese) bookstore! YAY!!!!!
