Flashback: Sisters

me&Jeannette_1980_4 me&Jeannette_1980_2 me&Jeannette_1980_3 me&Jeannette_1980
I'm totally dating myself here posting these, but I love these photos my dad shot of me and my sister in the 80's. My sister and I had my mom's dresses on that for some reason we ripped open the side of one leg, we must have thought it looked sexy. Very sexy with your grannie panties hanging out, hehe. Full face of make-up, summer tans, frizzy hair and doing the hustle. Yeah! Check out the 45's with Xanadu being in the front, my favorite!

New Vintage Label Stickers

I was fortunate once more that my favorite vendor at the Brooklyn Flea had more unused vintage labels. I got pharmaceuticals, cosmetic, cigarettes, and liquor labels. I have made them into stickers and they are for sale in my store. Here.

Paper pretties- new and vintage finds

Yesterday after dropping off my camera equipment at Calumet, who BTW are amazing for rentals, I accidentally discovered a cake and baking goods wholesale/retail supplier on the same block. First thing I thought, DOILIES! It's a giant warehouse space filled with every baking need imaginable. They had pretty cupcake paper cups in every design. My favorites were the polka dots and gingham ,of course. I had to be mindful of my budget so I just got red with white polka dots, superior of the dot designs besides multi color dots as far as I'm concerned. I also had to make a choice of large or small, gold or white, doilies. Went with the mini white, I think I'll get more use out of them and they came in a higher count, 30ct. They also had these neat little popcorn boxes, hmmm what shall I make with them.

Awesome paper crafty finds
Saturday I spent the morning at the Brooklyn Flea and was very fortunate to find these lovelies. Vintage, unused, product labels. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could find unused ones.

Next up, I found this great paper house template at Muji last week, and I'm so excited to make one. I think this could be one of the ideas I pitch to my friend for her wedding.

Doily City

This weekend I finally received my ebay purchase of a huge lot of perfectly perfect vintage doilies from Turkey. I'm not a regular ebay shopper but for vintage and lots it's probably the best bargains you'll find. I have many plans for my new besties. They will be added to new projects all jotted in my little sketchbook. It makes me sad that these were a little old lady's hard work and then they were cast off into the world but I feel like they'll have a good home with me and my ideas. The whole shebang included 25 doilies wrapped in a pretty embroidered hanky and small table cloth, all vintage and handmade. Here are few pics. vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies vintage crochet doilies

Dry Goods-Brooklyn Zakka Shop

dry goods

This Wednesday I finally got to pop into new shop in my neighborhood Dry Goods, a lovely zakka shop on Atlantic avenue. The store mainly focuses on heritage products, mostly American but they also important stuff from Europe and Japan. Dry Goods, has lovely things like Jadite, MT tapes (pretty much almost all of them), vintage and new stationery, plus they carry new brands that take pride in their products like Merchant and Mills, a wonderful sewing notions vendor from England. I walked away with a few things from their shop, a roll of cotton gingham placemats from Spain called Drap, they tear off like paper towels. I little packet of lovely vintage airmail envelopes, and a vintage wax paper fromage bag from France.

Vintage Japanese Photography

I was beside myself with excitement when I found these amazing vintage Japanese photography magazines from 1963 at the Brooklyn Flea. It was a rare find, I've never seen these before and everything good goes so quickly at the Flea, every Brooklynite is after a sweet find. I was fortunate that the magazine were sitting a low shelf that every sort of just passed and looked unremarkable, but I have a keen eye, especially for Japanese. Sadly I had to choose from 4 issues since I couldn't spend too much, but I believe I came home with to genuine prizes. Here are a few shots of the covers and insides. The ads are to die for, too. (please excuse my gross manicure, have to get a fresh one)
