The Perfect Summer Day

The Rockaways

We were blessed with amazing weather yesterday and perfect 77 degrees so the activities planned for the day were going to be amazing. First I jumped on my bike and headed for
a spin around Prospect Park and it was delightful, breezy and quiet. I was able to ride through the actual park by the lake and greenery as oppose to the paved roadway which is very nice but it's not a leisurely ride. Near the Audubon house a swan pair had babies and I got to see them, they are so precious. What's sad is that a cop has to babysit them because there are terrible people who want to hurt or steal them, it's happened before, but I just enjoyed them. Next, after a short pit stop at home, my friends and I headed towards Rockaway Beach. It was an easy trip on the A train, and it was really cool to travel so close to the water you could practically touch it. Rockaway Park is quite remarkable in the middle of this city a paradise. We were drawn to Beach 96 street because we heard tell of all these new food vendors and we wanted to try them out, so that was the first order of business when we got there, EAT! We all got stuff from Rockaway Taco, it was better beach food but not delicious Mexican for sure, the chips and flautas were fried in old oil so they tasted just like it, they have the potential to be better. My friend Michelle had a frozen cookie from, vegan vendor, Babycakes and she said it was tasty. Then off to the beach which is right of the boardwalk. The sand was clean and so was the water all together a wonderful afternoon at the beach.
