The Stationery Trinity

Today I hit Kinokuniya, AI Friedmans, and Paper Presentation, all offer different materials for some awesome stationery making and buying. At Kinokuniya I got some MT tapes, origami paper, and a lovely stationery book, Paper Paper. Then when I went to drop off some film I went to 18th street and I picked up some artist carving blocks, for stamp making at AI Friedmans. Then across the street is Paper Presentation, I scored some kraft cardstock, stamps, gold brads, and a large circle punch hole, here! While at Kino, I went upstairs to grab an onigiri and I yummy black sesame frappe, yummmmmm...

Stamp, Hop, Stamp, Hop!

Last night before going to bed I decided to make a bunny stamp. I've been obsessed with rabbits since the age of two and instead of buying one I figured it's time to carve one out! I haven't handmade a stamp since the late 90's, and I just realized that I have a bunch of stamps and stationery buried in a desk I use as a bookshelf for all my Japanese books I have to dig those out! Some I made and some I bought. I'll do that this afternoon, right now I'm off to Kinokuniya to find and MT book and see what other tapes they have.

Tanabata festival!

My friend Aya and her friends have worked really hard in preparation for this event. Today Aya showed us all their beautiful work for the festival amazing draping colorful pieces with tiny paper cranes floating about. I'm attending the event and taking lots of pics!!!Come on by and make a paper crane!

Zine-tastic!

When I went to Japan in March my original intention was to work on my photography portfolio and then turn it into a photo journal. When I started it I felt like I should add more information and turn it into a travel guide since I have been blogging about Japan since my first trip in 2007 I always feel like I should share my experience to help others with theirs. After four and half months I'm getting close to done. I think with a few more weeks I will be able to release my first zine. The hard copies will have special surprises in it. Here's a sneak peek ;)
