New 35mm Camera!

So psyched! I won an auction for a Nikon F3HP with a 50mm 1:4f lens. I have wanted this camera since last year but a family member promised to lend me their Canon AE-1 but never came through. No surprise. Anywho, I saw my friend's Nikon over the holiday and had those old feelings reignited so I waited for the holiday madness to calm down and found a good auction and the rest is history or good kharma. Can't wait for it to come I want to take it with me on my trip to Japan.

Through the lens & Marion Peck

Today was a pretty nice day aside from the weather, more wet snow. We went to the Sloan Fine Art Gallery on the Lower East side to see Marion Peck's amazing show "What You Are So Once Were We." Her paintings were inspirational, I wanted to run home and start painting! Instead we went for a drink at the Spitzer and tried to sketch the surrounding revelers, not an easy task.



When we got home there were a couple of packages waiting for us and one of them was an early birthday gift from my partner, Debra. A much awaited 50mm f1.8 lens for my canon dslr! I started shooting right away its AMAZING!

It's official!

I gave notice today at my job. In three weeks I'm a free agent! My plans are to chill out and work on my portfolio, paintings and photos, then leave to Japan for a month in March. I bought my plane ticket to Tokyo this evening with my miles, I barely had to pay anything after the miles were applied, ONLY $156! So happy!
Now to finalize the apartment and figure out when and where I want to travel in Japan. Wanna sell some gold to get some extra cash to pay for more of the Japan trip so I won't dip into my savings. So much to plan.

Painting Pink

This weekend I finally sat myself down to work on my new painting. I've been working on a series of paintings surrounding my fictional character of a space girl named Major Tomi over the last two years. "Major Tomi in Pink (in Love)", is the latest in this series. My paintings of this young woman invite the viewer to share in her vulnerability but also her detachment. There's much and little to be said about these works so I leave you with some crappy iphone pics of my painting.
