Collage and Bento!

This week I popped into Kinokuniya for lunch and to buy a gift and of course I left with two books for myself. First the amazing Collage book with endless pages of collagie (I know that's not a word)goodness. It's hard to say what's my favorite project because it's all so beautiful! I love the matchbox ideas, the collaged tees, and the lovely travel notebooks. There's a site with a mini movie of the whole book here. She makes cooking sound easy especially quick bento lunches. I've been wanting to do this every since I been working at a client's office in Herald Square where the food choices are Korean or fastfood, I like Korean I just can't eat it all the time. I'm not a cookbook kinda gal either but I thought this one was an easy one. Let's see what I come up with. Just Bento Just Bento

Hanami lunch bag and little notions shopping

I worked on this bag a few days ago, I had sketched it out in my sketchbook the week before and was waiting for the right moment to start it, then I came upon the lovely Drap roll of navy gingham and the picture was complete in my mind. I was inspired by the beautiful pink sakura blossoms of Hanami. I knew next weekend the Sakura Matsuri festival was coming and I would need to pack a little picnic so I wanted something special. I also popped into Purl Soho my favorite craft store, filled to the brim with pretty things, and I bought a bunch of pom pom trim, wool felt packet in fun spring colors, an air erasable fabric pen (from Japan and not pictured)and a polka dot neon pink Bagu bag to carry it all out in. Dry Goods-Brooklyn Zakka Shop

dry goods

This Wednesday I finally got to pop into new shop in my neighborhood Dry Goods, a lovely zakka shop on Atlantic avenue. The store mainly focuses on heritage products, mostly American but they also important stuff from Europe and Japan. Dry Goods, has lovely things like Jadite, MT tapes (pretty much almost all of them), vintage and new stationery, plus they carry new brands that take pride in their products like Merchant and Mills, a wonderful sewing notions vendor from England. I walked away with a few things from their shop, a roll of cotton gingham placemats from Spain called Drap, they tear off like paper towels. I little packet of lovely vintage airmail envelopes, and a vintage wax paper fromage bag from France.

A roll of film

Actually a mix of two. I shot two rolls at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens but I also had some shots of my favorite Japanese cafe, Ashbox. These were shot with a Nikon F3, my favorite of all my cameras.
